The question I was asking myself two years ago was “Can you really make money from home“?

For 15 years I had been working as computer consultant but because of outsourcing overseas I had a tougher time hiring out my skills.

So I started poking around the internet trying to find something that could truly supplement my income. And I tried a couple of different things:

• Ebay marketing
• Dropshipping products
• Data Processing jobs
• Completing surveys

Guess what?

None of those panned out for me. In fact, I would stay away from the bottom two (those are scams). I know people who make money with Ebay and dropshipping but I never seemed to master what it took to succeed with them.

However, I did discover one particular business that did interest me. And I really did “stumble” across the business by doing a search for internet marketing careers.

The name of the business is ACME People Search (APS).

It’s not a particularly exciting name but, then again, ACME People Search is not one of these programs that try to get you to join with hopes of making tons of money overnight with very little work on your part.

APS is a legitimate business owned and operated by Tissa Godavitarne based out of Herndon, Virginia.

And what sets Tissa apart from many of those so-called “gurus” out there is that he tells it like it is.

In order to make money with APS you have to be willing to work just like you have to do with any real business. It takes time to learn the skills you need to be successful in internet marketing. And that means educating yourself on Marketing, Advertising, and Promoting which is the life blood of any business.

Tissa is more than willing to meet you more than halfway if you are willing to do that. For instance:

• He gives you a completely free people search engine built with your affiliate links in a very popular niche (30% of a all searches done online are people search related)
• He conducts LIVE Training webinars several times a week to answer your questions and provide insightful information on how to succeed with your business
• He spends thousands of dollars every month to continually improve the search engine so that YOU can maximize your income potential
• He started a support forum to provide support to all the members with terrific information on how to succeed with APS as well as internet marketing in general
• He started a program where he reimburses affiliates all of their basic operating costs every month if they are willing to help others succeed by “paying it forward”

The list goes on and on.

Tissa offers far more to his affiliates than any other business I have seen. In fact, I often say “If you can’t make money online with ACME People Search, then you can’t make money online”.

Since my last contract finished up in March 2009 I have been working full-time from my home and have never regretted it. I now make thousands of dollars a month in income and I wish I had discovered internet marketing a long time ago.

But the point is that if you want to make money from home it is possible IF you find a legitimate online business AND you are willing to put in the effort to make it work.

ACME People Search is that legitimate business.

So the question is, are you willing to do the work necessary?

YOU have to answer that for yourself.

Just about anyone who’s ever had the displeasure of being forced to stay at home — either because of illness, lack of a job or some other reason — has bumped up against boredom or ennui. This can be avoided, just through the sheer act of staying busy doing something, which may actually turn into some money if something like an Internet business is started. And that can’t be a bad thing, for most.

Truthfully, when stuck at home, most people automatically gravitate towards the Internet anyway, so why not think of ways to generate some income from activities carried out on it? This can be something as simple as what it takes to make money blogging, which — in truth — actually isn’t all that much. Everybody’s doing it anyway, so why not try to make money from it?

Oh, there’s always some celebrity blogger out there who fell into a tub of butter based solely off of his or her name. Starting up a blog about something that one has a passion about and doing all of the things necessary to start generating traffic, may be a little hard at first. However, with time and effort it can certainly turn into real incomen.

Additionally, and especially when out of a job, remember that it’s always better to stay occupied in one form or another rather than to sit there just feeling sorry about life. Maybe start cleaning up the house and getting that old convertible crib to the basement where it belongs instead of out in the living room where it hasn’t been used in 10 years.

There’s certainly no reason to leave the accumulation of years of memories and activities laying around, unless one has an inordinate attachment jumping in the baby’s old crib and playing around it. It helps to eliminate clutter and it keeps one busy and away from yet another online session of solitaire, right?

It can also be the case that forced confinement at home because of illness, injury or job loss may present a good opportunity for self-enrichment and personal growth. For example, maybe one has always wanted to learn about investing. Well, order a few investing books and get started on them. Besides, having a backup set of skills can come in very handy during economic downturns.

Truthfully, within any home exists a limitless number of things a person can engage in that are both productive and enriching while also being enjoyable. Some of these activities can actually result in real income when the work and effort has been put into it. Other activities can be a bit more soothing, such as reorganizing music collections and the like. Whatever it happens to be, though, remember to try to stay busy whenever possible.

Never in the history of the Internet has there been as large an opportunity to make money online then there is at present. In addition, establishing a business on the internet has never been easier to do.

When we started our online business eleven years ago, the only way to get free traffic was to be ranked on the first page of Google. The only other alternative was to pay to get prospects by advertising on Google.

Our two top keywords cost twelve-dollars and fifteen-dollars respectively, using pay per click advertising. It would not take too long to use up thousands of dollars advertising on Google. One hundred clicks would cost twelve-hundred dollars to fifteen-hundred dollars which was a lot of money for a new business just getting started online. For that reason, we worked hard at SEO, landed on the first page of Google within 6 months (which was unheard of at the time) and we’ve ranked in 2nd to 4th position for our keywords ever sense. Today, it is not uncommon to hear of an online business to rank on the first page of Google within days, but it was highly unusual to get there in 6 months when we started marketing online.

Ranking on Google is not nearly as important as it once was because of the multitude of other paths one can find your website on the internet. {They can stumble upon you through blogs, social networking sites, YouTube, cheap advertising, and a verity of other paths.}

In fact, at a Jeff Johnson seminar I attended (Jeff is an amazing internet-marketing guru), Jeff started from scratch to promote a popular digital camcorder, and achieved ranking on the first page of Google for the top keywords to sell that camcorder by the last day of a three-day seminar. You can find some of his very useful videos on YouTube.

Today, there are social networking sites like Facebook,  that didn’t exist ten years ago, that get search volumes similar to Google. Why is that significant to your business? You want to be on Facebook, or you will miss a massive market.

Several years ago, if you were going to have an online business, you needed the technical expertise to make a website. Today, you can create a blog on Blogger.com or Squidoo.com and not know anything about HTML programming. It only takes a day to create a marketing page, monetize it and start marketing.

Only a fraction of the world’s population was online eleven years ago. Now there are 1.73-trillion people on the Internet. This means that one out of every four people in the world is online. This is a massive market, no matter how you slice it.

It is my opinion that there has never been a better time to make money online by starting an internet business than there is today. The only question is: Will you take advantage of this enormous opportunity and claim your share of the market?
